FRANK ZAPPA 0846: This week's show is entirely devoted to a tribute to Frank Zappa, commemorating the 15th anniversary of his death. It traces his career in roughly chronological fashion, concentrating on his humorous music but also exploring his R&B roots, and the avant-garde music which he considered to be his best work. Many interview excerpts from Frank's appearances on the Dr. Demento Show are included. This is not a repeat of our 1994 tribute show; it is newly written and produced. The online bonus segment comes at the end this time, and is much longer than usual (about 33 minutes). It features Frank introducing rare records from his personal collection, and also three Zappa favorites we can't play on the radio. IMPORTANT: Parental guidance is strongly suggested for the last three tracks in the online bonus segment; there is strong language and possibly objectionable subject matter. Nov 16, 2008
