Dr. Demento is nationally renowned for his weekly two-hour radio festival of mad music and crazy comedy, formerly heard on radio stations coast to coast, and now streaming direct to your computer right here on this site! It's a free-wheeling unpredictable mix of music and comedy. The Doctor plays new funny songs sent in by amateur and professional singers and comedians.

CANADA 1621: We salute Canada...the homeland of a lot of great audio humor, sketch comedy in particular. This week I have some of our all time most requested Canadian classics, including some that focus on what makes Canada delightfully different. Rated PG-13 (the Avenue Q song has an explicit sexual reference).

Dr. Demento Live in Portland, OR
Once again this year Dr. Demento will be giving three programs at Reed College, in Portland, OR. The programs are happening January 21 through 23.

Thursday, January 21 - We’re All Americans Now – Diversity and Integration in American Music:
a survey of the many different types of music that have been brought to America through the years...music originating in Africa, continental Europe, Asia, the Pacific Islands, Latin America, and more...and how they influence what we hear today...and how the changes in the music reflect the relationships between the different peoples of America. With numerous audio examples.

Friday, January 22 - The Life and Music of Frank Zappa:
The colorful story of rock music’s most brilliant satirist, and one of its great composers. With excerpts from my own interviews with Zappa, and many other audio and video examples.

Saturday, January 23- Punk Rock from the Beginning:
From the Ramones, the Sex Pistols and the Clash through the Dead Kennedys, Nirvana, Misfits, Meat Puppets, Bikini Kill and many more, into the 21st century. With audio and video examples. (Dr. Demento gave a talk on punk music at Reed in 1976, quite possibly the first lecture ever given on punk rock at any college campus).

All programs are in Vollum Lecture Hall, near the main entrance to the campus on S.E. Woodstock Blvd. Admission for the general public is $5.

Dr Demento on the radio, New Year's Eve
On December 31, from 11 PM to midnight Pacific time, I will be a guest on Jim Svejda's (schvay-da) program on KUSC, 91.5 in Los Angeles or http://www.kusc.org/listenonline/Index.aspx online. I'll be playing some Stan Freberg and some classical spoofs (Spike Jones, etc.) which is appropriate since KUSC is a classical music station. Tune in if you get a chance! -Dr D
